Sol de Mallorca and Portals Vells is an urbanization belonging to the municipality of Calviá.
It borders El Toro to the west, La Porrassa to the east, Son Ferrer to the north and the sea to the south.
The area is surrounded by a golf course called Golf Poniente and a pine forest. The urbanization is further surrounded by a small nudist cove called El Mago and another cove with two small beaches.
The quarries there are believed to have been used to carve ashlars to build Palma Cathedral (La Seu) and give the place its name.
One of the first to build a house in the area was American singer Dina Moore Bowden and her husband in 1932. Today a geographical point called Sa Punta de Na Dina commemorates it.
The urbanization was once home to the island’s only casino, which was relocated to the Porto Pi shopping center in the capital, Palma, in 2011.
